If you’re one of the millions of people who made a New Year’s resolution to make healthy changes, we support you in your efforts! Here are a few ideas for simple changes you can make to increase the amount of activity in your life and decrease the amount of caloric intake. Choose one or choose them all. Little changes can add up to a big difference!
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
- Swap calorie heavy condiments (like mayo) for tangy ones like salsa or Boetje’s Mustard.
- Drink more water.
- Get yourself moving for at least 30 minutes a day.
- Eat brightly colored natural foods … peppers, carrots, oranges, pears… taste the healthy rainbow!
- Park at the end of the row, not closest to the door.
- Choose whole grains.
- Skip the soda.
- Wear a step tracker or use an app or your phone to encourage your activity.
- Spend several minutes every day doing something just for yourself, and several minutes every day doing something for someone else. Both are important to a well balanced psyche.
- Do self-checks every month. Check for lumps where they shouldn’t be and for moles that have irregular borders or seem to be growing.
